Spring Valley's building inspector is back on the job eight months after the mayor tried to fire him.
The dispute between Spring Valley Mayor Demeza Delhomme and chief building inspector Walter Booker comes amid growing concern over illegal apartments and a backlog of inspections.
Last December, Delhomme had police escort Booker out of Village Hall, but a judge ordered his return to work this month.
Booker claims police had to help him get back into the building, but Delhomme says that's not true.
Booker's lawyer told News 12 by phone that the mayor had been trying to prevent Booker from doing his job, but that the truth would eventually come out.
