Two long winning streaks came to end this weekend in boys basketball action.
The Suffern High School boys basketball teams put their 12-game winning streak on the line this weekend against Pearl River. The Mounties led by double digits in the second half, but Pearl River would charge back. A late bucket by John Haynes sealed the 40-39 vicotry for the Pirates.
The North Rockland Red Raiders hosted Rye. North Rockland would pull away down the stretch as Tahir Alexander was a force underneath. He had his way, pouring in a game high 21 for the 50-39 final.
And a big crowd on hand for Tappan Zee and Albertus Magnus. The Dutchmen coming in on a 12-game winning streak as well. Magnus’s Thomas Hall had a team high 14 and led his team to stunning 53-51 upset of the Dutchmen.
