Special Veterans Day ceremony held for Buffalo Soldiers in West Nyack

The Mount Moor Cemetery is the resting place for 100 African Americans - 30 are veterans, and some are from African American regiments of the army historically known as the Buffalo Soldiers.

Nestled next to one of the largest malls in the Hudson Valley is an African American cemetery, where a special Veterans Day ceremony took place Wednesday to honor those who fought as far back as the Civil War.
The Mount Moor Cemetery is the resting place for 100 African Americans - 30 are veterans, and some are from African American regiments of the army historically known as the Buffalo Soldiers.
Robert Ellison was honored as a Buffalo Soldier award winner in 2018 for his service during Vietnam and his community when he returned home.
He joined a handful of others to pay homage to their fellow veterans from wars past, like Charles Mayo from the Civil War.
