A courageous young boy battling cancer got to wake up in his own bed in Yonkers Tuesday morning.
Riley Burns, also known as Smiley Riley, left Maria Ferreri Children's Hospital in Valhalla Monday in his superhero cape.
The 23-month-old, who also has Down syndrome, received six months of chemotherapy for leukemia. Thousands of people have followed his journey and 180-day hospital stay through Facebook.
Riley turns 2 years old next week. He will continue to see his doctor for weekly checkups, and he's scheduled for another bone marrow biopsy next week.
