Sleepy Hollow Middle School students helped create a puzzle game that will be featured on hundreds of newspapers for millions to play.

For the last decade, sixth grade English teacher Kirk Dietz has taught students about puns, nuances in speech and figurative language through games and puzzles.

Those games include Jumble and Word Search World Traveler created by game maker David Hoyt.

Hoyt regularly drops in from Seattle during class via Google Meets.

Thursday's class was a little different because they got to help Hoyt and a cartoonist create a new jumble puzzle.

The duo hopes learning through play will teach the students critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication.
