The historic Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse is set to be turned on for the first time in more than 50 years.
The $35,000 replica of the Fresnel rotating light that once operated atop the historic structure was unveiled by the village Wednesday.
The lighthouse is anchored steps from the long-abandoned GM plant at Kingsland Point, now slated to be transformed into Edge on Hudson, a multimillion-dollar commercial-residential development and village park.
The lighthouse will be fully refurbished to complement the bright new light.
For an up-close look at the new light, the village's historian will be on hand at the lighthouse every Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
