Showers return tonight after a beautiful late-February afternoon today

Plan on having the umbrella with you tonight and through tomorrow morning as a period of light rain moves in. Up-and-down high temperatures also continue through next week.

While the lower Hudson Valley has been experiencing warmer-than-average weather this week, don't expect it to continue every day! The rollercoaster type of weather pattern we expect this time of year as we transition gradually into spring is definitely here this year.
Today will be one of the nicest days this week with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the low to mid-50s. Becoming overcast into the early evening hours with some rain showers arriving between around 9 p.m. and midnight. Areas towards and north of I-84 can have some wet snowflakes mixing in, but with temperatures mostly above freezing. A quick coating of snow in higher elevations north of I-84 cannot be ruled out before a quick change to plain rain. That said, most of the lower Hudson Valley will just see light plain rain showers from the start.
It will stay wet with a period of light rain continuing through tomorrow morning. Rain totals will be between one-quarter to one-half of one inch.
Tomorrow afternoon, clouds will try to break with high temperatures spiking into the mid and upper 50s! We should be able to squeeze out a few really nice hours during the afternoon and early evening.
Colder weather returns on Friday with highs in the low 40s but feeling like the 30s through the afternoon thanks to wind gusts over 20 mph at times.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK:
A clipper system will be passing to the north on Saturday for the start of March. It may be just south enough to give us a quick snow shower early in the morning and a few spotty rain showers midday. If the clipper system moves even more north, most of the day ends up dry. Highs will be warmer again - in the upper 40s to mid-50s!
Colder and dry weather then returns for Sunday and Monday with highs around the middle and upper 30s.
NEXT WEEK:
If you really, really dislike the colder winter-type weather, don't worry! Of course, as can happen this time of year, temperatures warm back up quickly for the middle of next week. High temperatures will be in the 40s to low 50s again next Tuesday through Friday. There is the chance for more rain showers by next Wednesday.
FORECAST:
