Several Yonkers firefighters were sworn in to newly promoted roles during a ceremony at City Hall.
Yonkers Fire Commissioner Robert Sweeney and Mayor Mike Spano promoted two employees to assistant chief, one to captain, and two others to lieutenant.
Friends and family came out to support the newly inducted employees.
Officers say it’s a pleasure to serve Yonkers.
“The busier I am, the more rewarding it is every day. And I love giving back and that’s my way of giving back. We see people at their worst times, either car accidents, heart attacks, house fires, so we’re their need,” says newly promoted Capt. Luciano Saponara.
The promoted officers have a combined 100 years of experience.
