A local lawmaker is putting some fire under building owners who don't heat their buildings by listing the 15 worst offenders in the borough.
Residents at 30 Buchanan Pl., which snags the top spot on the list, say they've made countless complaints to the city about the lack of heat in their building.
According to Sen. Jeff Klein's office, there were 326 complaints between October of last year and November of this year. Ninety-six of those from the start of this year's heat season in October.
During the heat season, which is Oct. 1 to May 31, the city says landlords must follow specific guidelines. From 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., if it's below 55 degrees outside the temperature inside should be at least 68 degrees. Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., if it's below 40 degrees outside it should be at least 55 degrees in the apartment.
Tenants should report a problem with heat or hot water to their building owner. If still cold, call 311.
