Police throughout the Hudson Valley are increasing security around synagogues as the Jewish high holy days are underway.
The observance of the high holy days began at sundown on Wednesday, with Rosh Hashana and will continue through Yom Kippur. With tensions high in the Middle East and general concerns about safety, police in the region are keeping a close watch.
There are no known threats locally, but police say they are not taking any chances.
People leaving services at the New City Jewish Center say they feel secure and appreciate someone is watching out for them.
