3h agoA Spring Valley firefighter who died battling a fire at an assisted living facility is being honored for his heroism.
The 1.5-mile span of Route 45 from New Hempstead to East Eckerson roads is being renamed Firefighter Jared Lloyd Memorial Highway.
Back in February, Sen. Elijah Reichlin-Melnick (D-38th District) and Assembly Members Kenneth Zebrowski (D-96th District) and Mike Lawler (R-97th District) introduced the legislation as a way to honor Lloyd and make sure he is never forgotten.
Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the bill into law today.
New roadway signs are expected to be unveiled later this year.
