A second person was fatally struck on the New York State Thruway this week in almost the exact same area.

New York State Police say they responded to a call for a disabled car on the Palisades Parkway around 1:30 a.m. Friday. When troopers arrived, they found a Honda Civic with heavy damage.

Police say 24-year-old Jossue Rodas Pena said he struck what he believed to be an object on the road.

Further investigation revealed that Rodas Pena struck a person while he was driving on the Thruway near Exit 14 for Spring Valley and Nanuet. Police say that the person was walking on the highway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the victim’s name is being withheld until the family can be notified.

There was another deadly crash in almost the same area on Monday morning, according to police. Steven Redner, 47, of Tallman, was killed after he pulled onto the shoulder due to car trouble.
