A 62-year-old man was arraigned Tuesday in a fatal Greenburgh hit-and-run accident that took place Monday.
Police arrested John Janusik, of Elmsford, after questioning him. He's charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Janusik appeared frail as he walked into court.
Police said Janusik admitted to hitting something, but he was unaware he hit a person. Officials said Janusik had a clean driving record and that alcohol did not play a role in the tragedy.
Officials connected Janusik to the fatal accident after he got into another crash. "It was the second auto accident," said Greenburgh Police Chief John Kapica. "There was forensic evidence indicating [his car] had struck a pedestrian."
Harminder Singh was fatally struck just a quarter mile from his home while jogging along Saw Mill River Road. Officials said it was the victim's 38th birthday.
