Sen. Chuck Schumer is seeking federal funds to fight the problem of heroin and opiate abuse.
Schumer was in Tarrytown on Tuesday to push for $600 million of emergency federal funding to fight the war on heroin, both locally and nationwide.
He said the bill will not only make anti-overdose drugs more available, but will also improve treatment centers and law enforcement training across New York.
"Our job is to get Congress to step up to the plate, put money in enforcement and treatment and just stop this," he said.
Heroin has been blamed for at least 230 deaths in Westchester County over the last four years.
