The city of Rye's first public safety commissioner suddenly resigned Tuesday after just two years on the job.
Rye’s city manager confirmed that Public Safety Commissioner Michael Corcoran abruptly resigned for personal reasons.
Corcoran joined the Rye Police Department back in 2016 after a more than 20-year career with the West Orange Police Department in New Jersey.
Sources tell News 12 Corcoran was given an ultimatum by city leaders to resign or be fired.
The news comes after it was discovered that he was still allegedly living in New Jersey despite telling officials he was moving Rockland County after he got the job as commissioner.
The city manager would not confirm or deny if that information was correct.
