After more than a year, Rye Playland is about to open its gates to the public.
Playland is opening at full capacity on Saturday at noon.
The 93-year-old park has seen many changes in the past year between construction and touch-ups
"One of the things I enjoy about Playland is watching all the fun that's had and the memories that are made by all the families," said Adam Harvey, the events manager at Playland Park.
The carousel that went up in flames back in 2017 has been newly restored, as well as the Derby Racer.
"Even though the restrictions have been lifted, we want to make sure that we're sanitizing all the places that you might touch. We want to try to make sure that we're doing a certain amount of social distancing here, and those are things that we haven't done before. So as everything else that everyone else is doing during COVID, we are making adjustments," said Westchester County Executive George Latimer.
The county is looking to achieve 2019's attendance goal of more than 500,000 people, which will be a challenge because the park is opening later than usual.
"If we have a good Fourth of July weekend, if we have a good Labor Day Weekend, we can make a profit by a few million dollars," Latimer said.
Adult tickets are priced at $20 and kids at $15.
