A Russian American from Putnam County is showing her support for the people of Ukraine.
Maria Reshetnikova has organized a vigil on the Great Lawn outside Saint Mary's Church in Cold Spring.
She wants the community to stand in solidarity and take a strong stance against Russian aggression.
Reshetnikova says she is horrified by the war and hopes this rally will help unite Russians and Ukrainians.
“It's for all people. It's for Ukraine most of all. It's for Russia who is suffering. It's for the Russians who are silent that they stop being afraid to speak up,” she says.
The vigil is scheduled to begin at noon with an interfaith prayer service to follow.
