A K9 from the Rockland County Sherriff's Office took first place at the US Police Canine Association's Narcotics Detector Competition last week.
Deputy Shadow is a member of the department's Elite Dog Unit.
The 6-year-old German Shepard bested 20 dogs from area departments in two drug search challenges.
Sgt. Christopher Ford says it took Shadow only two minutes to find the drugs in a home and later in a car.
Members of the department say Shadow is a "member of the family."
