Family and friends gathered in Rockland County Tuesday morning to remember the 81 local victims who were killed in the 9/11 attacks.
County Executive Ed Day joined officials, family members, clergy and others to observe the 17th anniversary of the terrorist attacks at the county's memorial located in Haverstraw Bay Park.
The memorial wall was covered in roses to honor the ones who lost their lives.
The event featured a moment of silence to remember the victims.
The focal point of the memorial is a piece of the North Tower donated by a first responder who worked at Ground Zero.
