The Rockland County Health Department's Mobile Vaccination Van spent several hours in Spring Valley on Monday offering flu and MMR vaccines for free to people who want and needed them.
The van was near the Food Fair Fresh Market grocer where a recent possible Measles exposure happened on Nov. 29.
A few hours into their effort, News 12 is told one person received an MMR vaccine and five received a flu shot. Health Officials believe the cold weather impacted the foot traffic they normally see.
"We have had a lot of success in other places, and we continue to keep moving around the county so we can be accessible," said Julie Krauchuk, director of Patient Services for the county's Health Department.
New York state data shows Rockland has seen 16 confirmed cases so far in 2025.
A county spokesperson tells News 12 cases are "not all adults," and "many" are from travel but "some have occurred locally among households and close contacts."
The illness infected more than 300 Rockland residents between 2018 and 2019.
State data shows Rockland has one of the lowest MMR vaccination rates among all other counties in New York.
