The pope's visit to New York City will make traveling around Manhattan difficult for commuters.
Several roadways will be closed around St. Patrick's Cathedral until 9 p.m. on Thursday.
Fifth Avenue is going to be closed from 47th Street to 55th Street to vehicle traffic, as well as 48th to 55th Street from Madison Avenue to 6th Avenue.
Police are encouraging people who want to head to Manhattan to use public transportation. Metro-North trains are running on a normal schedule and will be adding extra inbound trains on Friday.
