Several families in Monsey were forced out of their homes after an apartment building fire today.
Fire officials say they were called to an apartment building on Walter Drive around 10 a.m. They say they found a fire in the back of the building on one of the balconies, but are not sure not whether it started in the kitchen of the apartment, or on the balcony.
One person was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation but is expected to be OK.
The fire inspector is on the scene trying to determine the exact cause of the fire.
