It's been almost five months since a
fire in Kingsbridge injured more than a dozen people and displaced entire families.
Residents tell News 12 that living conditions have gone from bad to worse.
The fire happened back in March at 235 East 196th St.
Residents say some units are still unlivable and others left with mold, water damage, rats and bathrooms they can't use.
"We don't deserve that. We're humans. We should have some kind of decent respect," said Joseph Rodriguez, who lives on the first floor.
News 12 reached out to building management and it said it is working with city agencies to make repairs… but declined to comment further.
The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development issued vacate orders after the fire and has since issued more than 40 violations against the owner.
HPD says repairs are the landlord's responsibility and warned that if hazardous conditions persist, it may pursue additional enforcement actions.
