In lieu of rebuilding the deteriorating Tappan Zee Bridge, officials have decided to construct a new bridge that will span the Hudson River, according to published reports.
After months of delays, an official announcement on the plan is set for 11 a.m. Friday in Tarrytown. The announcement is expected to detail how the Tappan Zee study team plans to have the new bridge built and financed.
There are also reports that plans for commuter rail or bus rapid transit - or possibly both - will be part of the announcement.
Officials from the state Department of Transportation, New York Thruway Authority, Metro-North Railroad and county are expected to attend the announcement.
