Former New Rochelle football star Ray Rice could be back in the NFL as soon as next month, according to a report.
CBS Sports is reporting that an appeal hearing date for Rice's case has been set. While the exact date has not been made public, some sources are speculating that the entire case against Rice could be resolved by mid-November.
Rice was suspended indefinitely by the NFL after videos surfaced of a domestic abuse incident in an Atlantic City casino.
The first video showed the former Baltimore Ravens star running back dragging his unconscious then-fiancée, now wife, Janay, from an elevator. After that video aired, Rice received a two-game suspension.
Later, the second part of the video from inside the elevator surfaced, which showed Rice delivering a knockout punch to Janay. The Ravens released him, and the NFL suspended him indefinitely.
Rice is appealing the NFL's decision saying he's being punished twice for the same incident, which is against union rules. It's expected Rice's legal team will argue that his suspension should be a maximum of six games, which has already passed.
Even if Rice is reinstated, he still has to find a team willing to sign him.
