Local law enforcement and state lawmakers are urging the renewal of a key federal gun control law.
The law, signed by President Ronald Reagan in 1988, makes it illegal to manufacture or possess firearms undetectable by metal detectors or X-ray machines.
It also mandates that every gun must contain 4 ounces of metal.
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D) is among the lawmakers calling for its renewal. The law is set to expire on March 8.
