The death of a 4-year-old Israeli boy who was killed by a mortar attack in Gaza Friday hit close to home in Westchester.
Daniel Tragerman's family went home to pick up some belongings during the cease-fire with Hamas. They were right at the door of a shelter escaping an airstrike when shrapnel from a rocket hit they young boy in the head.
Daniel's great aunt, Dora Mejicovsky, lives in Yonkers. She says she can hardly believe the young boy who was so full of life and energy is gone.
Tragerman is the first Israeli child to have died since Operation Protective Edge began.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to escalate the fight against Hamas Friday, vowing the militant group would "pay a heavy price" for Daniel's death.
