Nearly two dozen people are affected following a massive apartment fire in Yonkers.
Fire officials say flames broke out around 3 p.m. Tuesday in a kitchen on the fifth floor of an apartment building on Caryle Avenue.
They say the fourth and fifth floors cannot be lived in anymore because of water and smoke damage.
"Since we're right below the apartment that caught fire, there's water in the kitchen. We cant stay. There's no light, there's no electricity at all, so at least for tonight we got to find a place to stay," says resident Lilian Hernandez.
The Red Cross is helping at least six families. Two firefighters were taken to the hospital with minor burns.
