Randolph Township is requesting a heightened response on Route 10 following increased traffic and after a deadly crash.
There is a memorial set up at the intersection of Millbrook and Route 10. It has crosses, flowers and a teddy bear, honoring the people that died in the multivehicle fatal crash last week. The crash took place last Thursday around 3 p.m. It involved four vehicles including a school minivan, with students and employees.
There were multiple people injured, and four people died including a 4-year-old.
Now, troopers will be present along Route 10 at four intersections including Millbrook Avenue, Canfield avenue, Dover Chester Road, and Center Grove Road.
Randolph says the township made the request to police due to extreme heavy traffic volumes along Route 10 and heightened safety concerns.
In a press release, the township says increased police details in the region are necessary to manage significant traffic congestion resulting from delays caused by road repairs on I-80 eastbound near Exit 34.
Drivers are asked to be extra cautious when driving on Route 10 and be aware of law enforcement officers directing traffic.
