Dozens of Ramapo residents gathered in Suffern on Sunday to celebrate the indictment against Town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence.
The longtime town supervisor is accused of lying to investors to help get Provident Bank Park built, and then illegally using taxpayer money to pay back millions.
The residents gathered at the Waterwheel Restaurant to celebrate the federal corruption indictment against St. Lawrence, and to raise money to change the way representatives are elected in Ramapo.
The gathering was organized by the Preserve Ramapo group.
The event follows a heated meeting at Ramapo Town Hall less than a week ago. Dozens of protesters showed up to call for St. Lawrence's resignation. It was also the first chance residents were able to speak openly in front of St. Lawrence since he was indicted.
