Rain doesn't damper annual Yorktown Grange Fair

The annual Yorktown Grange Fair kicked off Friday despite the wet weather.
This year's theme is "Your Hometown Fair," which celebrates the special bond people share with their hometowns.
The fair features local produce, homemade crafts, photography, art and more.
There was also a pie-eating contest and some fun rides.
Event organizer Peggy Derevlany said no amount of rain would have stopped the event.
"There's no way for an agricultural fair to have a rain date. There are fairs all over the northeast so you can't change," she said. "In some ways, I like a cloudy fair, because you're not standing out in the hot sun."
The event continues both Saturday and Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
