With the Democratic primary only a week away, the race for state attorney general will have one fewer candidate -- Charlie King announced Tuesday that he is dropping out.
Despite campaigning for two years, Manhattan attorney King didn?t raise enough money and trailed badly in the polls. He is now endorsing former rival Andrew Cuomo. King says he made his decision after a conversation with Jesse Jackson. King says Jackson told him if he thought he couldn't win, it was time for him to support a Democrat who could.
The other two candidates to go up against Cuomo in the primary are former New York City Public Advocate Mark Green and former Clinton White House aide Sean Patrick Maloney. The winner will take on former Westchester District Attorney Jeanine Pirro in November.
