The faculty of the Good Counsel Academy, along with parents and students, rallied this morning in White Plains in an effort to save their school.
The Sisters of the Divine Compassion wants to sell its 16-acre property that currently houses Good Counsel Academy and has notified the school's board of trustees that the school must vacate the property by July 1, 2015.
A spokesperson tells News 12 that many of the nuns are getting older, making it more difficult to maintain the school.
Parents say there are five nuns who are making the decisions for the more than 80 in their order and if the school closes, the nuns as well as the 400 students have nowhere to go.
The students say they have a rally planned for tomorrow to save the school.
