(AP) - Prosecutors who secured negligent homicide convictions against self-help author James Arthur Ray plan to challenge his sentence and other rulings in the case.
Yavapai County Attorney Sheila Polk filed a notice of cross appeal Monday.
Ray was given three two-year sentences, to be served concurrently. Three people died following a 2009 sweat lodge ceremony Ray led near Sedona, Arizona.
Polk says she disagrees with mitigating factors, and the delays in imposing a judgment and sentence. She also plans to appeal monetary sanctions imposed on the prosecution, a ruling that her office broke disclosure rules, the preclusion of some witnesses and the denial of jury instructions.
Polk's notice follows one by Ray's attorneys, who are seeking to have his conviction, sentence, restitution order and fines overturned.
