The New York City Marathon was last weekend, but one Bronx principal is still in the running spirit.
Principal Dan O'Keefe ran 100 miles over the course of nearly 24 hours to raise money for the sports program at Cardinal Spellman High School. He is also challenging each student to raise $100.
O'Keefe is calling his ultra-marathon mission "Achieve 100," and hopes it can also inspire his students to achieve 100 percent in everything they do.
He hit the school track at 6 a.m. Friday morning with plenty of fans there to cheer him on as he ran his laps. Some students even joined in and ran during their lunch break to keep the principal company.
As of Friday night, the school has raised more than $10,000. An anonymous donor also gave $100,000 in support of the school.
