Poughkeepsie to get $900,000 to help prevent school violence

The U.S. Department of Justice is giving the district about $900,000 to use over the next three years.

The Poughkeepsie City School District is getting a federal grant to prevent school violence.
The U.S. Department of Justice is giving the district about $900,000 to use over the next three years.
The funds will be used for training in suicide awareness and prevention, purchasing anonymous threat reporting technology, and to pay counselors' salaries.
The DOJ program is based on the Student, Teachers, and Officers Preventing School Violence Act of 2018 (or STOP School Violence Act).
