Fire trucks, ambulances and HazMat units were on hand at the U.S. Postal Service mail center in White Plains yesterday for a full-scale emergency preparedness drill.
The exercise was designed to help improve employee safety by simulating an emergency while at the same time evaluating the response times. "It's important because we want to make sure we have the best processes in place to detect the safety of the general public as well as the safety of our employees," says George Flood, of the USPS.
More than 250 employees took part in the drill.
The processing center spans almost 500,000-square feet.
