Rockland County firefighters were put on edge while responding to a call in New City on Monday.
When firefighters arrived at Thornwood Drive around 1 p.m., crews said they could hear a popping noise.
They're not sure what it was yet, but police say it could've been ammunition legally stored in the house.
Officials think the fire started in the garage, but when crews arrived flames were all already engulfing the house and moving into the attic.
News 12 is told everyone got out safely.
