Yorktown officials paid tribute to a late highway worker by naming a portion of Route 118 in his honor.
The area between Underhill Avenue and Old Country Way is now known as the Jake Arcara Memorial Highway.
Community members gathered in the area for a ceremony unveiling the street sign on Nov. 25.
His mother shared a powerful message, urging the public to be more cautious about their driving.
"Highway work is dangerous. Yeah, this is what he signed up for... However, we need to think twice when entering a work zone. Be aware and slow down. There's a human life at risk,” said Kelly Arcara.
A bill named after Arcara has also been introduced in Yorktown. It would authorize the installation of temporary safety cameras in designated work zones.
