An online petition is racking up signatures in an effort to have a Harrison police officer reinstalled as the resource officer at Harrison High School.

So far, Harrison police and the high school have not commented on why Joe Parrello was removed as the resource officer. School officials say they couldn’t comment on personnel issues.

During an online school meeting Wednesday, parents speculated that his removal was due to controversial posts on his Facebook page. News 12 has not been able to confirm that.

A Change.org petition has more than 1,500 signatures.
