It's the end of an era in Mamaroneck as a popular hardware store gets set to close its doors after 140 years in business.

R.G. Brewer opened its doors in 1879. Customers say at one point the store sold boating supplies in addition to hardware goods.

Store managers broke the news to customers this week. It's not clear why the store is closing.

Customers say the store will be missed.

R.G. Brewer will officially close July 3.
