The snow in Rockland County is creating hazardous driving conditions, particularly on the Palisades Interstate Parkway.
The northbound parkway experienced a temporary shutdown at Exit 12 this morning due to an accident.
On the northbound journey from West Nyack to Stony Point, the right lane provided better traction, attracting most drivers. Many opted to travel well below the speed limit, averaging around 40 mph, and maintained a safe distance from the vehicle in front – wise precautions for ensuring safety on slippery roads. Ramps and intersections were notably slushy.
Authorities advise motorists to refrain from using the roads, allowing local highway crews to clear the snow until conditions improve.
