Police say gang violence may be to blame for the fatal shooting of a Yonkers teenager Wednesday.
The shots rang out on Morris Place just before 5 p.m., hitting 18-year-old Tyrone Stone in the chest and back, police say. Two hours earlier, one of Stone's friends was shot in the ankle on Livingston Street, not far from Morris Place.
Stone later died at Saint Joseph's Medical Center. Police officials and Stone's neighbors tell News 12 the 18-year-old belonged to a local gang. However, gang counselor Felix Castro says Stone had approached him in the past about enrolling in a job-training program.
