Police in New Rochelle say they have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection to last month's fatal stabbing of high school student Valaree Schwab.
Police say 16-year-old Valaree Schwab got into a fight along North Avenue with her classmates on Jan. 10. They say Z'Inah Brown stabbed Schwab twice in the left torso with a steak knife at a Dunkin' Donuts. Schwab later died from her stab wounds. Brown now faces attempted murder charges.
There were a handful of other students with Brown at the time of the stabbing. One of those students has been charged as a juvenile with hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence.
Schwab's family says the latest arrest isn't enough. They say everyone involved should be facing tougher penalties.
Police say the latest arrest stems from the teen's actions at the Dunkin’ Donuts the day of the homicide, but police won't give specific details.
They say no additional arrests have been made.
Five other teens with Brown when she allegedly stabbed Schwab have not been arrested. They were initially suspended from school, but sources tell News 12 that they may be back in classes now. School officials declined to comment.
