New details emerged Thursday about an alleged town hall tirade involving embattled Monroe Town Supervisor Harley Doles.

A two-page police report alleges Monroe workers were scared enough by their own boss last Friday to call for help.

The report claims Doles, who is out on medical leave, was yelling and banging on the office door of Comptroller Peter Martin, who had locked himself inside to avoid a confrontation.

Acting Supervisor Tony Cardone called police. It's not known whether or not Doles had a gun with him, but Cardone says the outburst is an example of the dysfunction under Doles' administration.

Doles claims to be in the hospital, and told News 12 by phone Thursday that he couldn't talk about what happened. But moments later, he sent an email to residents titled, "I'm still around, what an adventure."

In the email, Doles says he had heart surgery on Thursday, but believes he'll be well enough to return to work within days.

The Monroe Town Board passed a resolution Monday limiting Doles' involvement in town affairs until he officially returns to work.
