Police in New Rochelle confirm that a person was found dead inside a burning car Sunday morning.
The discovery was made after fire crews responded to the burning Volkswagen in a parking lot at Webster Avenue and Pine Street just after 5:30 a.m.
More than 10 firefighters worked to quell the flames in about 20 minutes. News 12 is told they saw the body as they were inspecting the car afterward.
It is not currently clear how the fire started, nor is it known exactly how or when the person died.
Police say the incident is being investigated.
