A father and son died early Sunday morning and two other children were injured in a New Rochelle crash.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Pelhamdale Avenue at the intersection with the Hutchinson River Parkway northbound exit ramp.
When they arrived, New Rochelle police say they found a gray Nissan Altima with the occupants inside after it had collided with a stone retaining wall.
Police say the 36-year-old male suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His three children were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi with severe injuries.
Twin brothers, 7, were found in the back seat. One brother was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other was undergoing surgery for severe internal injuries.
An 11-year-old female was in the front passenger seat and underwent surgery for internal injuries. Police say she is recovering and in stable condition.
The identities of the victims are being withheld.
Neighbors are terribly shaken up. "I'm still upset. It breaks my heart and I don't know why it happened,” says Virginia Capozi.
