A Mount Vernon business owner fatally shot himself at his 565 South Fourth Ave. warehouse at around 2 p.m. Friday, police say.
Ken Silverman was the owner of American Orthopedics, a company that manufactured custom sneakers for veterans, diabetics and even celebrities. He was 73.
Police say the man's employees were in the building at the time. They were sent home for the day at around 2:45 p.m.
Family members say Silverman was a loved one who had a positive impact on many people.
He made custom sneakers for the likes of 50 Cent and P. Diddy, according to employees.
Workers say he was a beloved man who also loved the people around him.
