A missing 10-year-old Spring Valley girl has been found safe and sound, according to police.
Kelly Rivera-Pillco's mother reported her missing after the Elmwood Elementary School student never got on her school bus Monday and never arrived at school.
On Tuesday, a business owner in Manhattan called the girl's mother saying that he found Rivera-Pillco wandering the streets. Spring Valley police also spoke with the man, who kept the girl with him until officers arrived.
Through Rivera-Pillco's posts on social media with friends and family, investigators learned her disappearance was not an abduction, but rather, a case of the child running away from home.
It's currently unclear how the girl was able to get a taxi to take her to Manhattan. Despite earlier reports, Rivera-Pillco was apparently not with her father, who lives in Queens.
