Police say a manhunt remains underway for a man who escaped custody in Pelham.
They say 22-year-old Isaiah Washington was being taken from a youth shelter to the Westchester County Jail, but escaped on the way.
News 12 tried to get a comment from the shelter without success. Pelham Police Chief Jason Pallett said Washington escaped from the front seat of a minivan after slipping one hand out of his handcuffs - which he asked an employee to loosen.

News 12 went to that employee's home, but he did not comment.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Washington.

Police say their dogs lost Washington’s scent in the Bronx.
